Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

A True Christian Hero: William Tyndale

William Tyndale was the first to translate considerable parts of the Bible into English so that we could read the Bible for ourselves. Tyndale’s translation was the first English translation to draw directly from Hebrew and Greek Texts, and the first to take advantage of the new medium of print – the printing press, which allowed for its wide distribution.

In 1535, Tyndale was arrested by church authorities and jailed in the castle of Vilvoorde outside Brussels for over a year. He was tried for heresy, strangled and burnt at the stake in 1536.

The Tyndale Bible, as it was known, continued to play a key role in spreading Reformation ideas across Europe. The fifty-four independent scholars who created the King James Version of the Bible in 1611 drew significantly on Tyndale's translations. One estimation suggests the New Testament in the King James Version is 83% Tyndale's, and the Old Testament 76%.

William Tyndale made a choice and was willing to risk his life for the Gospel. We have to ask ourselves, Are we willing to risk our lives no matter what the cost?

0 God! Thank you for translators like William Tyndale, who was willing to risk death so that I can read your Word in my own language. Help me not to take the Bible for granted, but to read it, feed on it, hide it in my heart. Amen. —Complete Book of Christian Heroes, The

  1. I read your last piece on your blog...Amen! We definitely have to put on the armor of God and have the courage to be bold for God and protect His Word no matter what, especially against religious brainwashing. Truth will always prevail! My bird and I are doing well and thanks for the prayer. I pray the same for you and Lonnie and many blessings to you both!
