Matthew 6:19-21 'Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.'
An analogy that best describes this is to think about playing a game, whether it be a board game, on play-stations, on your phone, or on the computer. Games can be a lot of fun and pass the time, and we may monopolise the board, create the strongest character, win countless victories and collect all the treasure - but as soon as the game is finished, all those treasures and victories are meaningless, the outcome has no value in the real world. To build heavenly treasures, the time spent playing games could be spent investing in someone's life for the Lord, reading God's word, praying, sharing the gospel - these things will last in the end when we follow God's plan for our lives. Games are fine, we just need to find a balance.
As A.W. Tozer said "I want to be one of those rare Christians whose very presence incites others to also be better Christians."
