Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

God Establishes the Government

As Christians, Peter tells us in 1 Peter 2:13 that we are to submit to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake. Keep in mind that the church and its believers were being severely persecuted by the government and the society of that day, the infamous Nero was ruling as the emperor when God led Peter to give these instructions. Nero was a cruel tyrant who ruled from A.D. 54 - 68 over all Roman provinces, including the areas Peter was writing to.

When we think of submitting to the Government or Authority it is important to remember that we are to respect the office even though we don’t necessarily respect the person in the office.

Romans 13:1 tells us "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God."

Peter goes on to show us why we are to be obedient: It is "for the Lord's sake".
Everything we do, we do for the glory of God. It is by God's permission, or appointment; by the arrangements of his providence, by which those in office had obtained their power. God often claims and asserts that "He" sets up one, and puts down another ~ Daniel 2:21 "He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding" Remember God is in control! Trust in Him to lead you in life!
