David said in Psalm 23:2-3 'He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.' The imagery is that of the shepherd leading his sheep. The initiative is with the shepherd, he is the one who determines the watering places and guides the flock as he thinks best. As our shepherd, God sovereignly leads us in the ways He wants us to go. Does this mean that we will always make the right decisions in our lives when we reach the crossroads of life? No, but God's plan is sovereign and in His sovereignty he is faithfully guiding us through the right and wrong decisions to fulfill His plan and purpose in our lives. God doesn't play games with us, He doesn't look down from heaven at our struggles to know His will and say 'I hope you make the right decision'. He will in His time and in His sovereign will lead us to ultimately fulfill His plan and purpose in our lives.
My friend, we need to be in God's word, walking closely with Him, praying, communicating with God on a daily basis so that we can hear our Savior as He leads us on the path we should go.
