Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

The Frailty of Life

As we continue in 1 Peter 1:23 Peter reiterates, as we saw in verse 18-19, that we are born again by the incorruptible seed; the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

The point is this, as born again believers; God has put His incorruptible Word into our hearts, and the very first word or commandment to believers is to love one another. Therefore, we must love one another fervently with a pure heart - we must obey God. I John 3:23 "And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love (agape) one another, as He gave us commandment.

Then in verses 24-25, Peter contrasted the frailty of human nature with the enduring character of God's Word by referring to Isaiah 40:8: "The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever." The length of human life on earth is brief compared to eternity.
Psalm 103:15-16 "As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more."

But in contrast to a very temporary existence, the living, holy Word of God will endure forever.
Psalm 119:89 "Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven." Life here is fraught with continual anxiety and uncertainty, but with the Almighty God, there is no change and no death, only eternal life and calm assurance.

1 Peter 1:23-25 ...having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, But the word of the LORD endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you."
