Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

No one can harm you

We have now completed the first instruction that Peter gave us to follow if we are to experience the best in the worst of times as we looked at Cultivating Christian love in 1 Peter 3:8-12. Now in 1 Peter 3:13-15 Peter gives us the second instruction: Practice the Lordship of Christ ...

Let us open our Bibles to 1 Peter 3:13-15 "And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled." But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;"

We will cover verses 13-14 in this post: The word "and" is seeing that God takes such good care of the righteous, who is he that will harm you? This question was asked in view of the persecution and suffering through which these saints were going through. Peter indicated that since the believers are righteous and God is watching out for them, no one can harm them. This reminds me of Romans 8:31 "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" My friend, we need to trust God to protect us in times of persecution. It is better to suffer for righteous' sake than to compromise our testimony.
As Christians, we are faced with crises, and we are tempted to give in to our fears and make the wrong decisions. but if we "sanctify Christ as Lord" in our hearts, we need never fear men or circumstances.

Look forward to continuing our study with you in verse 15 at our next post. Till then, have a blessed day.
