Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Faithful Servant

Peter gives the finally exhortation to the church leaders ... "and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away." ~ 1 Peter 5:4

We see in John 10:11 Christ is described as the "Good Shepherd" who gives His life for the sheep; Then in Hebrews 13:20-21 Christ is described as the "Great Shepherd" who lives for the sheep; Now in 1 Peter 5:4 Christ is described as the "Chief Shepherd" who comes for the sheep. What a beautiful exhortation; Faithful elders will receive a crown of glory from the Chief Shepherd at His second coming. This crown is for Pastors who are faithful in their service to the Lord. This crown is not an automatic reward just because they accepted the call to be a pastor. Again Christ seeks faithfulness. In context it talks about a shepherd caring for his sheep. A pastor has a responsibility to feed the sheep, feed the word of God, care for his flock and bring them to maturity. If he is faithful to the Lord in his service, he will receive the Crown of Glory. My friend, each one of us will be held accountable for what we did with what God has given us. Other passages describe crowns that we will receive at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Not only will we receive rewards as we run the race in life but did you know there are also Five Crowns that will be awarded at the Judgment Seat of Christ also.
1. Crown of Imperishable - 1 Corinthians 9:25
2. Crown of Rejoicing - 1 Thessalonians 2:19 (For being a Soul winner)
3. Crown of Life - James 1:12 (For to yielding to temptation)
4. Crown of Glory - 1 Peter 5:1-4 (for helping body to grow)
5. Crown of Righteousness - 2 Timothy 4:8 (Anticipate coming of Christ)

My friend, we can win many rewards here on earth but these rewards are perishable. We have a crown awaiting us in heaven that does not perish, what we do for Jesus Christ will not perish. Shall we hear our Savior say 'Well done good and faithful servant.'
