My friend, when we face our enemy we also need to prepare. We can prepare and have a ready defense for the gospel. Unbelievers will seek to stop our witness, sometimes they will simply ridicule or mock us, but at other times they seek to persecute or even kill us.
So how do we prepare:
Every day we need to put on the armor of God: Ephesians 6:10-18
We must be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us: 1 Peter 3:15
We must not hate our enemies but rather love them for the cause of Christ: Matthew 5:44
We must be in the Word of God daily and communicating with God daily living according to His will. In the end we should be able to say, as it says in 2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
We need to be prepared because as it states in Ephesians 6:12 that "we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places". It is only through the power of God that we will be able to defeat our enemies, just as the Jews found. The Jews were able to help save themselves from annihilation by preparing for the attacks of the enemy. If they had not prepared themselves, the Persian citizens who hated them would have tried to wipe them off the face of the earth. The Jews were prepared and because of it they won victoriously over their enemy.
We will see in verses 1-19 the success of the Jewish people against their enemies.
