Let us look at James 1:2-4 "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing"
My friend, It is not the adversity or trial considered in itself that is to be the ground of our joy; Rather, it is the expectation of the results, the development of our character that should cause us to rejoice in adversity. Scripture doesn't tell us that we won't suffer and feel the pain of sickness and disease or the loss of a loved one, but it does tell us that God is in control and has a plan and a purpose for the trial or adversity that we are facing. The joy we speak of is an inner peace knowing that God is with us through the trial. So rather than focusing on the events of our trial or adversity, we need to trust that God is in control and look to what the end results of what God is doing in our lives. As we learn to look beyond our adversity, we will begin to move toward the spirit of living joyfully in the face of trials and adversity.
