Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Don't Worry, Pray

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (Philippians 4:6).

"Don't worry"! Wow! That is a hard thing to do, isn't it? The word 'worry' in the original language meant: A divided mind. It's torn in two directions. You cannot even make a wise decision in this mode. Ever feel like that? But listen to this, God is 'commanding' us to not worry. This is a command in the original Greek Text. This command seems impossible to do. How do you not worry?

Here is how: See the word 'instead' above in verse 6? In other translations it will have 'but'. God is telling us through Paul that when worry starts to torment us, we need to; 'instead', 'PRAY'. Instead of worrying we need to pray. God never gives us a command that He will not equip us to be able to obey. You cannot worry and pray at the same time, and why is this? Because God wants you to tell Him 'everything'. I mean, everything.

The word, 'supplication', means 'needs' you have that are very important to you. We know from the Old Testament that we have a God that actually 'BENDS DOWN' towards us to hear our every word - Psalm 116:2: Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! (NLT)

So, we are to tell God everything about what is troubling us and thank Him for everything. We are to be thankful for what God has done for us in the past and for how He will take care of this tormenting problem. You have to remember this, God has allowed this problem in your life for a reason and He will work everything out for your good.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ~ Romans 8:28 (NIV)

If God has commanded us not to worry about anything and to instead pray about everything, then you can be assured that God has a very good reason for this command. That is why He wants you to be 'thankful'. Not only for what He has already done in your life but for what He will continue to do and that is, He will answer your prayer. He will take care of everything.

"WHY BE ALL DAY IN CARE, WHEN YOU CAN BE ON YOUR KNEES IN PRAYER".
