We start off with Philippians 1:3 ~ I thank my God in all my remembrance of you. ~ What a great lesson for us all! Remember that Paul was in prison in Rome and that he was a great distance from the Philippian believers. He did not have their presence; all he had was the memory of their time together which brought joy to his soul. It is worth asking, "Am I the kind of Christian who ignites joy in a person as they think of me?".
There was a lot of things that happened to Paul in Philippi that you would think would bring him sorrow as we see in Acts 16; however, Paul did not focus on the negative circumstances but on the positive outcome and the furtherance of the Gospel. Let us take a lesson from Paul and keep our focus on the big picture as we watch God's plan unfold before our eyes.
