It says in Psalm 44:21 'Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.' So why is it that we don’t always feel God’s presence in our lives?
Think of this illustration between a husband and wife: The wife was reflecting on their relationship and feeling distant from her husband and she said to him, “You know honey, we don’t sit close together in the car like we use to”. The husband replied, “I’m sitting behind the steering wheel; if we don’t sit as close as we used to, I’m not the one who has moved." ~ This is the same as our relationship with God. We may not feel as close to God, but He has not moved, He is here with us always. It is not God that is causing the distance, but us.
James 4:8 'Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.'
