Let us look at the Third Spiritual Incentive: The Word of God ~ 1 Peter 1:16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."
Peter here is referring to Leviticus 19:2, "Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy." He says, "It is written" a statement that carries great authority for the believer. This was Christ's defense when tempted by the devil: "It is written". Luke 4:4 But Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'
The Word of God is not only a sword for battle; it is also a light to guide us in this dark world
Psalms 119:105 ―Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
2 Tim 3:16-17 ―All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Word reveals God's mind, so we should learn it; God's heart, so we should love it; God's will, so we should live it. Our whole being—mind, will, and heart— should be controlled by the Word of God.
We do not study the Bible just to get to know the Bible. We study the Bible that we might get to know God better. It is good to know the Word of God, but this should help us better know the God of the Word.
God's Word: Learn it, Love it, Live it
