In our last post on Philippians 4:6-7, we talked about how in Christ we can have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding as we learn to trust God in every aspect of our lives.
My friend, today I would like to further examine this peace. Let’s open our Bibles to John 14:27
'Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.' ~ John 14:27
To the world, peace has a negative side; they only enjoy peace when there is an absence of trouble, how often is that, right! As Christians, we enjoy peace in spite of the trials because of Christ's presence in our lives! It is a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7)
To the world, peace is something you hope for or work for; but to the Christian, peace is God's wonderful gift, received by faith.
People in the world walk by sight and depend on the externals, but Christians walk by faith and depend on the eternals. Peace involves the heart and mind. 'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.' ~Isaiah 26:3
Wrong thinking leads to wrong feeling, and before long the heart and mind are pulled apart and we are strangled by worry. As Paul said 'and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.' ~ Philippians 4:7.
My friend, are you anxious today about something going on in your life? Take it to Jesus and leave it at his feet - trust him and know He is in control. Keep your focus on God (Isaiah 26:3) not your circumstances. Feel the weight lifted from your heart as you surrender the outcome to the Lord.
Peace be with you my friends.
