Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.
Proverbs 19:21 Sometimes the circumstances in our lives seem to be leading us in a different direction than we originally planed. As Christians, we need to be open to these changes and try to look at them through God's eyes. For example the Apostle Paul wanted to go to Rome as a preacher as we see in Romans 1:15; however, he ended up going to Rome as a prisoner. Now look at Paul's attitude in Philippians 1:12 'I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel'. Ok, did you read that! Little did the Romans realize that the chains they affixed to his wrist would release Paul instead of bind him. Notice what Paul says in Philippians 1:13 'so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ.'
These chains gave Paul contact with the lost. He was chained to a Roman soldier twenty-four hours a day. The shifts changed every six hours, which meant Paul could witness to at least four men each day. Imagine a captivated audience twenty four / seven. Paul witnessed, prayed, and lived a godly life out before those around him. It was not long before some of these soldiers put their faith in Christ.
Sometimes we may feel as if we know what we want to do in life, but my friend God sees the bigger picture; Trust Him to lead you in life. If things don't seem to be going the way you think they should, you may want to think again as God may be leading you in the direction He wants you to go.
