Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Don’t Respond in Anger

How many times have we done things in anger.  My friend, once something comes out of our mouth it is so hard to put it back, isn’t it.

This is what happened in Esther 1:10-22 at the end of the banquet, King Ahasuerus, in a drunken state, commands the presence of Queen Vashti which she refuses infuriating the king.  The king had invited important officials to see his wealth, power and authority.  If it was perceived that he had no authority over his own wife, his military credibility would be damaged.  Therefore, In a moment of anger and revenge, the king consulted legal advice from the highest ranking officials in the empire about what he should do as we see in Esther 1:13-15.

Verses 16-19 shows their response, Queen Vashti is dethroned and banished from the king's presence and King Ahasuerus issued a decree that could not be repealed to all the provinces.

We see in Esther 2:1 that King Ahasuerus starts to think about what he had done in his anger.  King Ahasuerus may have acted in anger, but God used it to fulfill his plan.  God in his providence is setting the pathway for His plan to deliver His people. This has now set the stage for the rise of Esther.   We’re going to be looking further into the book of Esther and you will notice that God’s name is never mentioned in this book. But you will see throughout this book that God is working behind the scenes in the lives of these people.

Look forward to continuing this study with you.
