Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Stay Focused on God

Where is our Focus? A friend of mine shared with me, one day, that he noticed while reading through Genesis, he never saw where Adam or Eve used the personal pronoun I relating to themselves while God was in the Garden with them and prior to them committing sin. While God was with them, His presence permeated the whole Garden and their focus was totally on God. We would call this being 'Theocentric', meaning that theo=God, and centric=God being the center of interest.

After the fall of man and sin entering into the world and Adam and Eve being kicked out of the Garden, my friend noticed that the personal pronoun I was now used by Adam and Eve relating to themselves. Why? God was not in the 'Center' of their lives anymore. Their focus was on themselves and not God. Adam and Eve now noticed that they were not clothed showing their focus on them and not God. Here is where my friend said that he finally started to see the personal pronoun I start showing up relating to Adam and Eve. We would call this being 'Egocentric', meaning that Ego=I, Me, where centric=I being now the focus of all things.

This is why everyday we need to make God the total focus of our lives. This is what He wants.

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." 1 John 2:15 ESV
