Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Be a Blessing

Our last post compared the tongue with fire, The second destructive aspect of the tongue is compared to deadly poison in James 3:8 ~ but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. ~

The deceptive thing about poison is that it works secretly and slowly, and then kills. How many times have we seen a person inject a bit of gossip ~ a bit of poison, into the conversation with the intent that those words would spread like the wild fire. A poisonous tongue can do a lot of damage to a person's reputation, to friendships, cause division all by a few planted words.

Did you know that Mountain climbers have said that there are certain times and places when the vibration from a faint whisper could bring down an avalanche. Whenever the guide detects such sensitivity in the air, he cautions every climber to remain silent. Oh, let us not be guilty my friend, of sinning with the tongue; An avalanche of sorrow and separation may be caused from the faintest whisper of gossip, slander, lying, jealousy, bitterness, and the like.

Yes, the smallest but largest troublemaker in all the world is the tongue. But it doesn't have to be a troublemaker! God can use our tongues to edify instead of destroy, and to bring delight to someone’s life. It is a matter of the heart, Is it filled with Christ’s love. The tongue is a little member, but it has great power. Give God your tongue and your heart each day and ask Him to use you to be a blessing to others.
