Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Words are Powerful

My friend, the tongue is very powerful! We can have an influence on people by what we say.

Proverbs 15:1 "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." It is so easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment isn't it. Some people just rub us the wrong way and say things that are hurtful and unkind. James illustrates this perfectly as he compares the tongue to a fire in James 3:5-8 'Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity....'.

Like a fire, the tongue can 'heat things up'. Fire can be very destructive just as the tongue can. Fire burns and hurts, and our words can burn and hurt. Fire spreads, and the more fuel you give it, the faster and farther it will spread. My friend, the next time someone lashes out at you with a tongue of wrath, turn the other cheek. Colossians 4:6 "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."
