Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Victory in Jesus

"For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit" 1 Peter 3:17-18.

Notice how Peter connects verse 17 with verse 18. In Verse 17 Peter stated that it was better to suffer for doing good than for doing evil; then in verse 18 Peter shows us the ultimate example; Christ who suffered on the cross in order to make a way of salvation for sinful humanity. Peter also spoke of this in 1 Peter 2:21:
"1 Peter 2:21 "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps"

Note the words "for sins" in 1 Peter 3:18. These words are the very words used in the Old Testament for the sin offering (Leviticus 5:7; Leviticus 6:30). The point is clear: Jesus Christ offered Himself for sin; He was the fulfillment of the sin-offering itself. Remember God is perfect and only perfect beings can live in God's presence; therefore, Christ the perfect sacrifice died to cover our sins so that we can be acceptable to God. My friend, We no longer have to stand before God guilty of sin because Jesus Christ has died for our sin. In Christ we stand acceptable to God. But we must always remember why - It is because Christ died for us: the just One died for the unjust. He sacrificed and substituted His life for us.

Please join me for our next post as we explore these verses further. Until then, have a blessed day.
