Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Chosen for a greater purpose

Esther, a Jewess, was placed in a position in which she could help the nation Israel. Her being elevated to queen happened even before Israel needed help.

This was another instance of God protecting His covenant people; Which leads us to Esther 2:12-14: It was now time for the women to go before King Ahasuerus to see if they would be chosen to become the next queen. We see in scripture that they had all gone into extensive preparation which lasted for twelve months before they could enter into the king's presence. Each girl was given twelve months of beauty treatments, with six months of oil baths and six months of perfume and cosmetic applications. No doubt, a course on court etiquette was also given. Then in verses Esther 2:15-17 it is Esther's turn. Notice the timeline here, verse sixteen states Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus in the seventh year of his reign in 479 BC in the 10th month of Tebeth (Tebeth was the Babylonian name for December-January). This is four years after Queen Vashti was dethroned. Then in verse seventeen the king placed the royal crown upon Esther's head and proclaimed her queen of the great Persian Empire. Four years after Queen Vashti refused to come into the king's presence and was banished, Esther finds favor in the king's sight and is crowned Queen ~ she was chosen for a greater purpose.
Notice how verse 15 states that Esther obtained favor in the sight of all who saw her. Can that be said of us? Do we find favor in the sight of those whom we come in contact with? Esther had a quality about her that went beyond outer beauty. She had an inner beauty which showed kindness, graciousness, humility and love. She had a wisdom about her that demonstrated she was trustworthy, dependable, faithful and loyal. My friend, inner beauty speaks louder than outer beauty. A person can be the most beautiful looking person in the world, but if their mouth is full of unkindness, lies and deceit then no one wants to be near you.

Proverbs 31:30 "Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised."
