Welcome to Empowered Bible Study Ministries

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

The Plan Unfolds

After making the personal decision to exterminate the Jews, prime minister Haman immediately began to plan just how to carry out his devious plan.

Over the next few posts we will follow the steps in Esther 3:7-15 that wicked Haman took as he executed his plan to destroy the Jewish people: First He Selected the day Esther 3:7 "In the first month, which is the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur (that is, the lot), before Haman to determine the day and the month, until it fell on the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar."

Many of the people in that day took few important steps without consulting the stars and the omens. They would consult their gods in making decisions for their lives. As we see in Ezekiel 21:21 A century before, when King Nebuchadnezzar and his generals couldn't agree on a campaign strategy, they paused to consult their gods. So here is Haman, in the first month of Nisan casting lots to dictate the date of his attack against the Jews. It is interesting that Haman began this procedure in the month of Nisan (April- May), the very month in which the Jews celebrated their deliverance from Egypt. The month chosen by the lot was the 12th month (February-March) - almost a year later. Haman used a pur, a Babylonian word for the lot to decide when the Jews should be killed. Later we will see that pur is used in the feast of Purim to celebrate the victory over Haman.

Little did Haman know that the true and living God was in control of the situation. The Lord who created and controlled the universe was in control of the lot casting. The Lord was moving behind the scenes to defeat the wicked plot of Haman. In causing the lot to fall on the twelfth month, the Lord was giving the Jews a whole year to get ready for the attack, a year in which events would bring about the deliverance of the Jews and the death of their arch-enemy Haman.
