As we continue our Bible study, Peter now talks about Submission in the life of a believer as a citizen of Heaven to the lost. Let's look at 1 Peter 2:11-12 "Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation." Gentiles is not referring here to Gentiles as incontrast to Jews, but to the unsaved world.
My friends, We do not witness only with our lips; we must back up our "talk" with our "walk". There should be nothing in our conduct that will give the unsaved ammunition to attack Christ and the gospel. Our good works must back up our good words. Jesus said this in Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." - We need to walk the talk.
We need to remember that our citizenship is in Heaven, we are Children of God. We need to ask ourselves, "What kind of witness am I?" Are the unsaved coming to know the Lord by watching my life - does my life represent Christ's light? Of course, everything we do should be for the glory of the Lord and the good of His kingdom.
