We see in Ruth 3:5-7 that Ruth did just as Naomi instructed her to do and in verse eight Boaz is awaken to a women lying at his feet. You can just picture this romantic moment as Ruth identifies herself and proposes marriage as she asks him to take her under his wing, or spread his garment over her. Then the verse goes on to say why - because he is a close relative; kinsman redeemer. Verses ten and eleven Boaz graciously accepts the Marriage proposal. Boaz spoke assurance to Ruth and told her she did not need to be afraid. He told her she would be redeemed.
Ruth is not thinking of just herself here, she is thinking of Naomi and keeping the family name going. By marrying Boaz her Kinsman-Redeemer she was able to help Naomi by Boaz purchasing her mortgaged property and keeping it in the family as well as having a child and carrying on her deceased husband Mahlon’s name. This was not a selfish act for Ruth, but one that would glorify God.
We too my friend need to be obedient to God's word as Ruth was obedient to Naomi's instructions. We have this blessed assurance from the Lord, that he is our redeemer our rescuer the one who will meet our needs to protect and provide for us. Live a life pleasing to The Lord.
