So far we have covered four exhortations by Peter in our previous posts - to be of one mind, having compassion for one another, loving as brothers and sisters in Christ and to be Tenderhearted. Now we see the fifth exhortation Peter gives us in 1 Peter 3:8 - to be courteous.
The Greek word here (ταπεινόφρων, tapeinophrōn) means "Be humble-minded". To be humble-minded is to think of others ahead of ourselves.
Matthew 23:12 "And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
1 Peter 5:6 "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time."
