Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

The Lord my Protector

My friend, The words of Peter are so encouraging in 1 Peter 1:5 as he describes the power that is within us.

The verse says "Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." KJV ... the NASB version translates it as  "who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

Not only is our inheritance reserved for us as we see in verse four, but the believer is kept / protected by the power of God as we see in verse five. Peter explained that in spite of persecution, believers are being protected. The word translated "protected" is the Greek word phrouroumenous, meaning guarded or shielded which is a military term used to refer to a garrison within a city (see also 2 Thessalonians 3:3; Jude 24). It's an inner area of protection; though the city wall is taken, the garrison is not. No matter how the world persecuted or killed believers' bodies, God was guarding their souls.

Wow! This is so exciting, to look at the in-depth meaning of the words Peter wrote and see a bigger picture of the amount of protection we as believers receive, It is so encouraging my friend to know we are not alone in the challenges we face.  Do you want to know something even more comforting ... The tense of the verb in the Greek reveals that we are constantly being guarded by God.

My friend, Satan may break our bodies down, but he can’t take our soul! We may have to face trials and persecution, but as Peter explains God is constantly protecting our soul, it is through His power that we can endure.  Keep the faith my friend and know that Greater is He that is within you than he that is in the world!

God bless you and have a wonderful day
