We now come to the Second act of preparation: Ruth was to anoint herself.
As we look at the Hebrew text for Anoint, we see that it may be used of the ordinary physical process of anointing the body with olive oil and particularly after bathing for especially fragrant effect as we see in Ruth 3:3. It was also often used for medicinal needs.
My friend, as we pursue our kinsman redeemer we need to make sure that we are living a life that is pleasing to the Lord. When we are in a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ walking in His Spirit, we send up a sweet fragrance to our Savior. Anointing oil speaks of the presence and the working of the a Holy Spirit in our lives. May our lives be a sweet fragrance acceptable to our Lord.
We will examine the third act of preparation in our next post. Until then, have a blessed day.
