Welcome to Empowered Bible Studies

Bible study is essential to our Christian walk. As we study God's Word, our personal relationship with God grows deeper and deeper. It empowers us to live for the Lord in every aspect of our lives. This is what has inspired me to do an online Bible study.

Many years ago my husband introduced me to a commentary on the book of Colossians and I was so blessed as the Scripture came to life before my very eyes. Since that day we have developed an extensive library and enjoy studying God's Word.

I have prepared some Bible studies that I would like to share with you. My prayer is that they will bless you as much as they have blessed me in preparing them. I pray your life is touched and that it would inspire you to live every moment of every day for Christ.

Let us Walk the Talk

Peter urged the believers to no longer live as they had in the past because they had already spent enough time doing so.

Let's look at 1 Peter 4:3 "For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries." In a sense, Peter was saying, "You spent more than enough time in sin. Your old way of life must be set aside now, let's move on." These believers had new lives in Christ, so they were to spend the rest of their earthly lives putting aside their sinful human desires and following God's will (4:2). Peter reminded them of the shameful activities of their past when they lived like pagans (the Gentiles). You remember as we have said before, in this passage when Peter used the word "Gentiles" he is referring to non-Christians. Jews often referred to the pagan world as "Gentiles." Peter's list of evil activities resembles Paul's in Romans 13:13. These are examples of what does not please God: actions, activities, and attitudes that belong to the world. These have no place in believers' lives.

My friend, people are watching us, learning from us, seeing if our walk matches our talk. Let us put away our sinful ways and live lives that glorify Christ.
